Polypropylene Woven Fabric and Its Uses
Just what is Polypropylene Woven Fabric?
Commonly known as PP woven fabric, they are poly-fabric made from Polypropylene (PP) yarn.
How are PP Woven Fabric made?
PP granules of suitable grade is taken, mixed with color granules if required, melted at high heats of up to 300 degree Celsius. The melted polymer is then extruded into thin sheets which are then cut into strips.
These strips are then pulled for reinforcing the yarn tensile strength and quickly cooled down and wound into yarn rolls. The yarn will then be ready for weaving into PP woven material.
PP woven cloths are by nature economical, light-weight and durable. The fabric is an ideal choice for adding a laminate layering to increase moisture-proofing, much needed for packaging powder substances such as flours or cement.
They can also be made into food-grade, fashionable BOPP packaging bags to improve marketing effects of pet food or grains.
So what about the material makes it so useful?
The strength requirements of the material can be adjusted to suit its ultimate purpose. For example, if the cloth is to be used for making tarpaulin sheets, a stronger PP woven fabric will be required.
The selection of polymer and the tensile strength of the poly-yarn will then be tuned up. The weave of the fabric may also be of a higher mesh count, e.g. 12x12. This will result in an outcome that is thicker and burst resistant.
In the event a basic PP woven cloth is needed for example, making a simple bran bag, a weave of lesser mesh count or tensile strength will be applied.
